Ken’s bio
Ken joined the ID team in 2012/13 and achieved tenure in 2020. Over this time he has worked on courses ranging from 1st year undergraduate to final year post-graduate level. He has helped implement a variety of innovative design elements into OL courses (Open Mapping) and the institution (Kaltura video streaming). He has participated in a variety of pan-institutional committees: The Budget Committee of Senate and Research Ethics Board and continues to sit on the General Education Task Force. Ken has worked to improve access to open education resources by advocating for its use in courses and by providing workshops to faculty on the 5R’s of OER, working in Pressbooks, creating H5P elements and more. He has served as the Chair of the Open Education Working Group in 2021.
Ken has two MA’s: one in International Development from St. Mary’s University in Halifax and in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University.
Outside of work, he tries to keep active with skiing and soccer as seasonal sports sprinkled in with some traveling to warm destinations where fresh fruit, funky fish and fantastic fiestas are all part of the experience.
