Matthew Stranach joined Thompson Rivers University – Open Learning as Educational Technologies Coordinator in February, 2018. Matt is interested in supporting TRU students, faculty, and staff through educational technology in a wide range of formats and modalities.

Originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Matt has lived and taught in South Korea, Qatar, and Ontario before arriving at TRU. He holds a doctorate (Ed.D) in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary. His thesis focused on social presence in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). He also holds a Masters Degree in Education (Instructional Design) from the University of New Brunswick, a Bachelor of Education from Saint Thomas University (Fredericton, NB), and a Bachelor of Arts (English and Philosophy) from Saint Thomas University.

When he is not at TRU, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, reading, long-distance running, and writing poetry, fiction and non-fiction– some of which has been published in print and online.
